Working for a kind learning environment
In my career, it is fundamental to work on your inner self and the interpersonal relationships come out to be extremely important. The nature of art implies working with feelings, emotions, ideas, and of course, with other people. However, it is known that other people might have a different perception of the world. Thus, working on concepts such as empathy and tolerance is as important as technique
Nevertheless, all that was previously said can be easily turned in to a lie, because the fact that we work with our body doesn't mean we develop a natural instinct to communicate among us. A very common case is, for example, the judgments we make about other people's work. Too easily we do comments about the abilities or deficiencies of our peers, their timing, their results, and grades. It is true that we are permanently exposed to judgment, as a fundamental and necessary element of our work, but more important is the solidarity among classmates and to understand that this is a personal process and we are all learning.
Sometimes, a careless comment can deeply affect us and generate frustration and pain, even when we didn't mean to be offensive. That's why we must be extremely conscious at the time of giving constructive criticism and try to be as kind and polite as possible. It's important to avoid any kind of selfishness and individualistic attitudes. Due to the very nature of our practice, we are constantly working in large groups of people, and we must consider different perspectives and ideas. We also must respect other people's needs and try to create a positive and safe environment inside the classroom.
By taking these things into consideration we can hope to contribute to create a better experience for all of us and to take advantage of the privilege of our education.

Los Molles
This photo was taken in one of my favorite
places in Chile. It's a
beach, not very well known, called Los Molles. This
balneary is
called like that because of the Molle tree that grows there. It is
located in the 5th region
of Chile, near La Ligua. It is not very big, but it
is very beautiful and relaxing. My grandparents live there, and I've going to
visit them since I have memory.
In this photo, I appear with my mom,
Raquel, and it was taken by my cousin, Antonia, during the last summer. That
day we wanted to visit the Biopark Puquen, near the town. I like this picture
because we really enjoyed that beautiful summer day in family and because of Los
Molles is a very special place for me, full of memories. Also, the Biopark is a
wonderful place that we must preserve over time because of its great natural
value.
My experience in student organizations
During my third year at the university, I
decided I wanted to participate in student organizations. That's why, with some
of my peers, we made a list for the students of dance's board.
I always knew that being part of a student
government is not an easy task, but even so, I wanted to participate in the
government, because for this to work there need to be people willing to lead.
My experience has been very interesting for
my personal and artistic development.
Artists must have a strong commitment to social and cultural issues, for
different types of organizations (students, workers, among others) fulfill an important role in the construction of just societies and is our duty as art
workers to be involved in those transformations and processes.
It would be a little silly to think I'm going to change the world as a member of the student government, but I believe that great transformations always begin as small but meaningful gestures and decisions.

My obsession
My cellphone is all the time with me. I’ve changed it a couple of times, but there is always one, and it has many utilities in my daily routine.
Since an alarm in the mornings that helps me to wake up to even send emails or use the social media. Its use as a mean of communication should be the most important of its functions. However, nowadays we do much more than that with our cell phones.
I don´t know if I really like it, but it's already part of my basic necessities. If I don't have it I miss everything that's going on around me, since we all communicate through social media, like Whatsapp messenger.
It is true that I could still live normally without my cellphone, but I think we’ve reached a point as a society where we have a strong dependence on technology and many of the things we do every day depend on having a cell phone. For example, I can coordinate a meeting with person I’m meeting in a little while in a matter of a few minutes.

What I want to do
Since my childhood, I have always wanted to study dance. While there are many things that I would like to study and develop, the dance was always the first on the list when I had to choose my career at the university.
My time at the university, so far, has been full of learning, developing several tools to understand my body to be able to create with it and through it. I have known great friends in this space and I hope to meet more people that might be mutual support.
In the future, I would like to dedicate myself to the creation and investigation of the movement. I honestly don't feel the desire to devote myself to teaching, but rather I would first use the knowledge the University gave me to work in the areas of interpretation and creation.

hello you all! My name is MariaPaula Cuevas. I was born in Viña del Mar on October
the 26th of 1998. My mother was born in Santiago and my father
was born in La Ligua. I have one sister. Her name is Maria Francisca, she was born
in La Ligua and she has a degree in Social Anthropology. My sister was 9 years old
when I was born, and right after that, my family decided to move to Santiago.
My father worked a lot, but in my childhood, he was my
Sunday partner. We used to go riding a bike, we took taekwondo classes
together and we ate rich ice cream at Filippo.
My mother is my favorite musician. I’ve heard her sing since I was a little girl and she has
always been an inspiration for me. I always wanted to devote my life to art
and without her, I would have never managed to enter that world. She has been and
will always be my greatest support.
During High School, I went to ISUCH. During my time there
I learned a lot and I was taught art
and dance. I also met great friends that I still have.
I have a dog and his name is Kusi. He is the joy of our home and we
love him very much. We also have a cat called Lady. She is a Princess
although she behaves badly most of the time, we still love her.
