Working for a kind learning environment

In my career, it is fundamental to work on your inner self and the interpersonal relationships come out to be extremely important. The nature of art implies working with feelings, emotions, ideas, and of course, with other people. However, it is known that other people might have a different perception of the world. Thus, working on concepts such as empathy and tolerance is as important as technique

Nevertheless, all that was previously said can be easily turned in to a lie, because the fact that we work with our body doesn't mean we develop a natural instinct to communicate among us. A very common case is, for example, the judgments we make about other people's work. Too easily we do comments about the abilities or deficiencies of our peers, their timing, their results, and grades. It is true that we are permanently exposed to judgment, as a fundamental and necessary element of our work, but more important is the solidarity among classmates and to understand that this is a personal process and we are all learning.

Sometimes, a careless comment can deeply affect us and generate frustration and pain, even when we didn't mean to be offensive. That's why we must be extremely conscious at the time of giving constructive criticism and try to be as kind and polite as possible. It's important to avoid any kind of selfishness and individualistic attitudes. Due to the very nature of our practice, we are constantly working in large groups of people, and we must consider different perspectives and ideas. We also must respect other people's needs and try to create a positive and safe environment inside the classroom.

By taking these things into consideration we can hope to contribute to create a better experience for all of us and to take advantage of the privilege of our education.

Los Molles

This photo was taken in one of my favorite places in Chile. It's a
beach, not very well known, called Los Molles. This balneary is
called like that because of the Molle tree that grows there. It is located in the 5th region
of Chile, near La Ligua. It is not very big, but it is very beautiful and relaxing. My grandparents live there, and I've going to visit them since I have memory.

In this photo, I appear with my mom, Raquel, and it was taken by my cousin, Antonia, during the last summer. That day we wanted to visit the Biopark Puquen, near the town. I like this picture because we really enjoyed that beautiful summer day in family and because of Los Molles is a very special place for me, full of memories. Also, the Biopark is a wonderful place that we must preserve over time because of its great natural value.

My experience in student organizations

During my third year at the university, I decided I wanted to participate in student organizations. That's why, with some of my peers, we made a list for the students of dance's board.

I always knew that being part of a student government is not an easy task, but even so, I wanted to participate in the government, because for this to work there need to be people willing to lead.

My experience has been very interesting for my personal and artistic development.  Artists must have a strong commitment to social and cultural issues, for different types of organizations (students, workers, among others) fulfill an important role in the construction of just societies and is our duty as art workers to be involved in those transformations and processes.

It would be a little silly to think I'm going to change the world as a member of the student government, but I believe that great transformations always begin as small but meaningful gestures and decisions.
